It is probably safe to say that there is no estate quite like Castlewood anywhere in North America, perhaps the world. This eight-bedroom (with additional flexible sleeping areas), ten-bathroom vacation rental can accommodate up to 35 guests in classic Western style. This ski-in/ski-out rustic mansion is located on the Double Cabins ski run, and has an exquisite combination of turn-of-the-century antiques and modern conveniences. No detail has been spared in the interior design of this property. Guests enter the main house through heavy oak doors, where you are led into an extraordinary great room with huge vaulted ceilings, a log burning fireplace and doors leading out onto 2,000 square feet of deck area, with magnificent views of the San Sophia Mountain range.
On the lower level of the main house is a romantic wine cellar where guests can taste wine and cheese, or enjoy a meal. Next to the wine cellar is an incredible home theater, with over 2,500 movies to choose from. This is not your average home theater - it is outfitted with suede and leather armchairs, and countless cozy pillows and rugs spread over mattresses.
There are four bedrooms located on the upstairs level of the main home. The master suite is truly decadent. The plush lounge area of the master suite features another log-burning fireplace and a queen-sized mattress on the floor, covered with warm textured rugs and pillows. There is also a loft with a king-sized bed. The master bathroom has a steam shower, a tub, and double sinks. The master suite also has a private deck with a large hot tub that enjoys incredible views to the north. The second and third guest bedrooms have a king-sized bed and two double beds respectively. The final bedroom in the main house is the Tipi room - a queen-sized bed sits inside a gorgeous cowhide tipi. There is also a closed loft in the tipi room with a king-sized bed, and countless toys for kids to play with. Needless to say this is the room that causes the most contention amongst the little people of the house!!
Just off the great room and kitchen area, there is a large dining room. To the other side of the great room there is a game room with a pool table and a poker table. Beyond the game room, there is a hallway and elevator, which takes guests to the Hot Springs Guest House. The Hot Springs Guest House is a fully self-contained living area with three guest bedrooms and a grotto. On the lower level, there is a small kitchen and two guest bedrooms. Both bedrooms have a king-sized bed and private bathroom. Guests walk up a hand-crafted "elk antler" staircase to the middle level of the guest house where there is a lounge area with a fold-out, full-sized sofa bed. The middle level also houses one of the most impressive features of the property - the hot springs. There is also a massage room with two massage tables, and direct ski-in/ski-out access. On the upper level of the guest house is a bedroom with two full-sized beds. There is also a grill on the outside deck of the guest house.
The Coachman's Quarters is the third living area at Castlewood. Located above the garage, this self-contained apartment has one bedroom with a queen-sized bed, as well as two queen-sized beds in the living and kitchen area. Every bedroom at Castlewood has a private bathroom with a tub, as well as a flat-screen TV connected to satellite and the internal media system. In addition to the official bedrooms at Castlewood, there are multiple additional sleeping areas including a queen-sized Murphy bed in the wine cellar, a tower room with three twins, and sleeping for up to six in the theater. There is also a king-sized mattress on the floor of the great room. No amenity has been spared at Castlewood - your stay at this property will undoubtedly be a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
