The town of Telluride was a booming mining town at the turn of the 20th century. History abounds here and much is still visible today in our buildings, museums, and galleries. With our prestigious designation on the National Historic Register, the small town pulls each visitor into a time of prosperity and glamour. In contrast to the historic town of Telluride we also boast the Town of Mountain Village, located high on the ski mountain and just a short fifteen minute gondola ride connecting the two. The two towns compliment each other and offer the visiting guest numerous options for lodging, dining and activities. Telluride is now a mecca for outdoor adventure enthusiasts with skiing, mountain biking and hiking amongst the list of endless activities. It is also a cultural hotspot with a jam packed summer calendar of music, food and film festivals. By choosing Telluride as your wedding destination, you will have guests saying for years and years, “Remember so and so’s wedding in Telluride? It was the most fun and spectacular place in the world!”
Why is Telluride different than other mountain town’s for special events such as weddings?
For a great number of reasons... the number one reason is unmatched beauty anywhere in the United States. Whether you choose a winter or summer celebration, Telluride never fails to leave a lasting impression on those who are lucky enough to visit. Telluride is situated in a stunning box canyon, surrounded by fourteen thousand foot peaks featuring waterfalls, ski runs and endless hiking trails.
The next reason would be the incredible uniqueness and choice you have for ceremony sites, venues for rehearsal dinners, parties, and outdoor activities. Both winter and summer boasts activities that will make your guests want to be a part of your very special occasion. They will come not only for your wedding, but also because you have chosen a very exciting destination to tie the knot.
Many people who visit Telluride leave with the feeling that they have experienced something very unique – a little mountain town frozen in time. Telluride is the kind of place where nobody locks their doors, kids run around freely and lazy dogs line the sidewalks of Main Street, basking in the summer sun. With friendly locals and a relaxed pace, Telluride immediately feels like home to everyone who visits. It is a place that you will always come back to for years to come, bringing your family back to relive special memories.
Seasonal temps/ monthly averages & altitude
Telluride has an wonderful alpine mountain climate – our elevation at 8,750 ft (Telluride town) and 9,500 ft (Mountain Village) makes for comfortable summer days and cool nights. On a typical summer's day, temperatures hover in the mid 70's, with just 10% humidity. Telluride boasts an average 300 days of sunshine per year (and the constant smiles on local faces reflect this!).
Winter's in Telluride are typically cold and dry, but that sun just keeps on shining! Telluride average's 300 inches of snow each winter season. The high during a typical winter's day is usually in the 30's, with temperatures dropping into single digits at night. Temperatures can vary quite dramatically during the winter months.
The off season's (April/May & Oct/Nov) are usually the more quiet months. In the spring off season, the snow is melting and the temperatures are starting to warm up. In the fall off season, the trees turn to brilliant hues of yellow, gold and red. The weather can be a little unpredictable during these months – it can be beautiful and sunny, or it can snow. The off season can be a wonderful time to celebrate a special event in Telluride because there are less crowds, better availability, and you have a chance to experience a more local feel for the area.

Thank you so much Beth, you helped us immensely both prior to the wedding day and the day of. You are worth every penny and we could not have done it without you! - Carol Phagely, Mother of the bride
As I began to plan my wedding, I knew I needed a wedding planner with a lot of experience and insight. Beth was the obvious choice, as I knew of her business and have attended weddings she has been a part of. Beth understands a bride’s needs and listens to your vision for your wedding. She is full of great ideas and when surprises arise, Beth handles them with ease. Our big day went smoothly and everything fell into place perfectly thanks to Beth! We could not has asked for a better wedding planner, Beth is the best in the business! - Natalie & Barrett Miller
Apparently, I was one of 20'ish brides to get married on "the most popular wedding day" in September in Telluride. So to say that I felt very "lucky" to have scored the best wedding planner in Telluride, is an understatement. However, let me say a few things about LUCK. It will really help to drive home just how critical it was for me to have someone like Beth Hess, running the ship, because LUCK was NOT on our side. My fiance and I couldn't seem to get a break with the venue selection. When we finally secured what seemed to be the perfect reception location at a beautiful home in Mountain Village, the house SOLD six weeks before our wedding was to take place. And speaking of "getting a break", I actually broke my foot badly two days before our wedding! Imagine the utter disappointment in both situations! I can not even describe to you how critical it was that the venue situation get resolved…FAST. We had no Plan B. Beth fought for us tooth and nail. With a lot of negotiations and reassurances involved, largely thanks to Beth's efforts and "connections", the very generous new home owners honored our rental. Phew! Breaking my foot 24 hrs before 40 of our closest friends and family were to arrive, would surely lead to chaos, panic and the inevitable Bridezilla! But it didn't. Everything was so organized and under control. Beth left me with nothing to do but to sit, which is all I could do unfortunately, and relax and enjoy the people I loved the most! Beth was involved in every detail of our wedding. Looking back, that was the best decision I made. So luck was not on our side…but thankfully Beth Hess was! I still walked, or hobbled, down the aisle and married the man I love. Thank you Beth!- Christy

When is the best time to get married in Telluride?
Telluride is stunningly beautiful year round. The end of summer/early fall season (September & October) is probably the most popular time because it is shoulder season, the weather is nice, and availability is better. The summer is also a very popular time, because of the warmer weather and abundance of outdoor activities. There are also a lot of winter celebrations, because of the skiing and other snow related activities. It really just depends on what you prefer!
