No matter what brings you to Telluride, whether its world-class skiing or touring the city's historic downtown, you're missing tons of action if you head back to your hotel when the sun goes down. Telluride boasts a lively nightlife scene that has a little something for every traveler. You can explore Telluride on your own or try out one of the following activities and create memories that will last a lifetime.
Dance the Night Away at Club Red
While technically located in the town of Mountain Village, Club Red is one of Telluride's hottest nightlife destinations. Skiing magazine recently placed Club Red on its list of ski country's best indoor concert venues, and it's easy to see why.
With a luxurious ambiance and an exciting drink menu that you would expect to find in a larger, cosmopolitan city, Club Red is relatively new to the Telluride nightlife scene. Club Red first opened its doors in March 2014, and it has served as a musical tour de force ever since. With a capacity that ranges between 400 - 850, you'll enjoy an intimate show no matter who's performing at Club Red tonight.
Bar Hop on East Colorado Avenue
Home to myriad bars, clubs and concert venues, East Colorado Avenue is the nightlife capital of Telluride. You can start out the night at The Last Dollar Saloon. Its prime location on the corner of Colorado and Pine, coupled with expansive picture windows with pristine mountain views, makes “The Buck” one of the best people-watching spots in Telluride. A 21+ venue, The Buck has the largest beer selection in town, and it regularly features live local music and DJs, usually with no cover charge, in “the Fishbowl.”
After drinks at The Buck, head down Colorado Avenue to the moon. Fly Me to the Moon Saloon, that is. The small, intimate venue recently merged with O'Bannon's Irish Pub but remains a live music hotspot. Big names have performed on the Fly Me to the Moon stage throughout its colorful history, including Sublime, Reverend Horton Heat, Buddy Guy and the Jerry Garcia Band.
East Colorado Avenue is also home to Telluride's famous Town Park, a 36-acre outdoor space nestled in the shadow of the San Juan Mountains. In 2016, Town Park made Curbed Ski's Top 10 list of the Best Outdoor Concert Venues in Ski Country. During the summer months, Town Park plays host to many notable festivals, including The Ride Festival and The Telluride Jazz Festival. Special events at Town Park typically last into the night. Winter activities at Town Park include ice skating and sledding, and the on-site skate park is open year-round.
Take in Telluride's Unique Culture at Sheridan Opera House
Don't let its name fool you – Sheridan Opera House is a multi-faceted performing arts venue that features national musical and comedy acts, regionally renowned cover bands and special events such as a cabaret-style dinner-and-a-show package. Called the “Crown Jewel” of Telluride, the Opera House has been a fixture on historic Oak Street since 1913. Jam bands, bluegrass and rock music are favorites at the Sheridan.
