Three years ago, the USA Pro Cycling Challenge sped through Telluride one rainy August afternoon. Everyone was so excited that Telluride was included on the route, and we were all hoping it would become an annual event, putting Telluride on the international stage of world cycling. To celebrate the hosting of this major sporting event, the Telluride RIDE Festival was born - a locally crafted weekend music concert featuring big name rock acts. Unfortunately, the pro cycle race itself did not return to Telluride, but miraculously (in a town already full to the brim with summer festivals) the RIDE Festival not only endured beyond the inaugural year, but has since prospered into one of Telluride’s most coveted events on the summer calendar. The festival has included international headline acts including David Byrne, St Vincent, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Ben Harper, The Lumineers and Thievery Corporation.

2015 will see the 4th annual RIDE Festival here in Telluride. This years event will be taking place on July 11 & 12, and the announcement of Widespread Panic as this years headline act meant the dates sold out in less than a week. Some of the other big name acts include Gov’t Mule, Jonny Lang, Trigger Hippy and the North Mississippi Allstars. The Main Stage in Telluride Town Park will be the scene of most of the action during the day.

In addition to some notable main stage acts, the festival also includes the NightRIDE series of shows. The NightRIDE series features all of the main acts, performing in more intimate settings around town including the Sheridan Opera House, the Fly Me To The Moon Saloon, the Roma and High Pie Pizzeria. Each of these venues is situated on Telluride’s Colorado Avenue (main street) and gives festival goers the chance to see some of their favorite artists perform in a smaller venue.

Things to Do
Telluride summers are action packed. If you love the outdoors, you can break up the music with a stroll along the river, an invigorating hike, a challenging mountain bike ride or a leisurely SUP down the San Miguel. For more information on all of the things to see and do, visit the summer activities section of our website.
Bars & Restaurants
In addition to the vendors who will be catering the shows at Telluride Town Park, Telluride’s main street is overflowing with bars and restaurants that are sure to be a hive of activity during the RIDE weekend. For affordable pizza and beer, the Brown Dog is a firm favorite. High Pie Pizzeria has a similar offering with more space and a more European style pizza, and is just a few doors down from Brown Dog. We also love to Flora Dora Saloon & Bar for a classic Colorado diner experience and the best burgers in town!
