I think we can safely say that summer is here in Telluride! We had a hugely successful MountainFilm weekend, and this years theme "Awareness Into Action" delivered some very powerful messages to festival goers. This event usually marks the beginning of the summer season, and is starting to attract more and more visitors as each year passes. Usually MountainFilm brings a nice dose on wintry weather, just to remind us that Mother Nature is at the helm! However, this year the weather Gods delivered us heavenly sunshine. I think it was a little gift for us Telluriders, after such an unusually snowy & cold Spring.
So lets take a sneak peak at events for the month of June...
Telluride Balloon Rally
June 4 & 5, 2011.
This weekend, June 4 & 5, is the annual Telluride Balloon Rally. This is another event that has fallen pray to the weather gods in years gone by. But last year the festival was a great success, and this weekend is shaping up to be the same. If you are in Telluride, or near Telluride, make sure that you get up early on Saturday morning to see the spectacle of the balloons hovering high over our little box canyon. On Saturday evening, all of the balloons have a demonstration on Telluride Main Street. This is a really special event, especially if you have kids! Here are some shots of last years event to set the scene.
