Come Out and Enjoy the Festivities
There's no better way to dispel the winter doldrums than spending an entire week in Telluride, and things are really going to get hopping when the Telluride Gay Ski Week gets started. In its 15th year, this event is scheduled to begin on Saturday, Feb. 25, and it runs every day through Saturday, March 4.
During the entire week, you'll enjoy special activities and events throughout Telluride and Mountain Village, which are just a fun and convenient gondola ride away from each other. In addition to the daily events that include ski meet-ups, after-ski parties and a variety of late night fun, these are just a few of the many scheduled festivities that you won't want to miss.
Saturday, Feb. 25
Opening Night Welcome and Art Show: From 6 to 8 p.m., the Telluride Gallery of Fine Art will host a fabulous party to celebrate the first night of the event. This will kick off the festivities, and participants may also enjoy the featured art of Skip Liepke.
Sunday, Feb. 26
Oscar Viewing Party: Head on over to the Sheridan Opera House to watch the Oscars on the big screen. The party will run from 5:30 to 10 p.m.
Monday, Feb. 27
Late Night Karaoke Lounge: If you want to show off your beautiful singing voice or just want to have a good time, then come on out to the Liberty Bar and Lounge between 9 p.m. and 2 a.m. Handmade vodka cocktails and other specials will be available throughout the night.
Tuesday, Feb. 28
Mardi Gras Apres Ski Party: Choose your favorite mask, and come celebrate Mardi Gras at 221 South Oak from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Mardi Gras-themed drinks will be available along with tasty treats.
Wednesday, March 1
Gay Soup Pool Party: From 4 to 7 p.m., you're invited to visit the Peaks Resort and Spa for a dip in the heated swimming pool. You'll enjoy plenty of good music, access to the pool bar and tasty menu items.
Stand Up With Erin Foley: From 9 p.m. to 2 a.m., you'll have the opportunity to appreciate the comedic stylings of Erin Foley. Come laugh it up at the Liberty Bar and Lounge, and you'll also be treated to some fabulous cocktails.
Thursday, March 2
Sneak-Peek Fashion Show for the Telluride AIDS Benefit: International designer fashions and local models will be featured in this special fashion show with an emphasis on entertainment. It will be held from 8 to 10 p.m. at the Telluride Conference Center, and a live auction will follow the show.
TGSW White Party: This event is considered the greatest party to be held during the Telluride Gay Ski Week, and you'll find out for yourself when you come to the Sheridan Opera House from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. The popular Lee Dagger will once again DJ this amazing party.
Friday, March 3
Drag Show Featuring Suzy Wong: Otherwise known as Arnold Myint, Suzy Wong was crowned Miss Gay America just last year. From 9 to 10:30 p.m., Suzy will put on a show and bring you some laughs at the Liberty Bar and Lounge.
Saturday, March 4
Telluride AIDS Benefit Gala Fashion Show: Whether you caught the sneak-peek fashion show or not, you'll definitely want to attend this dazzling affair. Come watch the models strut their stuff in some of today's most unique designs for an excellent cause. This event will be held at the Telluride Conference Center from 8 to 10 p.m., and a live auction will follow. There will also be an after-party event held at the end of the auction to round out the Telluride Gay Ski Week festivities.
