Telluride is abuzz with the exciting news that it has been included in the list of host cities for the 2012 U.S. Pro Cycling Challenge. After the slight disappointment of being left off the U.S. Pro Cycling Challenge route for 2011, Telluride has been included as this prestigious event passes through Colorado in 2012. Telluride will feature in stage one of the event next year. On August 20, 2012, world class cyclists will ride from Durango to Telluride before heading further north on August 21.

The inaugural U.S. Pro Cycling Challenge was held in 2011, with 135 of the world's best cycling athletes crossing 518 miles of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Nearly 1 million cyclists watched this event from the sidelines and 161 countries broadcast the event on TV.
