Chocolate. The word alone can bring a fond smile and a grumbling tummy to those who have fallen under the spell of this wonderful treat. There's even a scientific reason behind the world's love affair with this fine product of the cocoa bean. Chocolate contains a small quantity of a naturally occurring chemical that triggers the release of endorphins, which make you feel nothing short of fantastic. Many liken it to the same level of emotion that you may experience when you're falling in love. As an added bonus, dark chocolate even has significant health benefits that include the reduction of bad cholesterol and a reduced risk of the hardening of the arteries.
With all that good information, most people still feel guilty about indulging in their favorite treat, but now is the time for you to stop munching on chocolate behind closed doors and enjoy it without shame. Just make plans to visit beautiful Telluride, Colorado, this February, and you'll have the opportunity to cater to your chocolate cravings while supporting an extremely worthy cause.
It's Time for the Chocolate Lovers' Fling
For more than two decades, thousands of people have descended upon Telluride for this extremely popular festivity, and everyone is welcome to attend. The 21st annual Chocolate Lovers' Fling has been scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 6, from 7:30 to 10 p.m., at the Telluride Conference Center, which is located at 580 Mountain Village Boulevard.
What to Expect
The region's best confectioners and chefs turn out for this event, and you can expect to be treated to an incredible tasting of a wonderful variety of delectable chocolate treats. Talented performers will provide live musical entertainment throughout the evening, and you should be sure to bring the right shoes for a night of dancing. You may also opt to participate in a silent auction that offers gift packages of homemade chocolates and many other wonderful items. You are encouraged to arrive to this event dressed in your very best 1920s attire, and you'll have a chance to win some nice cash prizes if you are voted as one of the best dressed.
Proceeds Benefit the SMRC
While this event promises a great deal of fun, it's been organized as a fundraiser for an extremely serious cause. Proceeds go to the San Miguel Resource Center, where the staff works very hard all year long to eliminate violence and sexual assault throughout San Miguel County. This yearly event generally provides at least one third of the annual budget for the SMRC, and the money is used to help those who have suffered from the effects of violence to get a fresh, healthy new start.
You may purchase advance tickets for $45 per person or $100 for VIP tickets. If you buy your tickets at the door, then your price will be $50 per person or $125 for VIP tickets. These special VIP tickets include access to a private bar and lounge that offers a lovely variety of drinks and delectable chocolates and other excellent food items.
