Perched on the shores of the shimmering Dolores River and surrounded by 40 acres of lush evergreen forest, Slippery Rock Ranch is a private mountain compound for the discerning Colorado traveler. Reminiscent of a laid-back summer camp, yet with all the amenities of a luxury resort, a stay at Slippery Rock Ranch is an exceptional escape from the everyday. Spread out over three sleeping cabins, two glamping tents, the main lodge, garage, and a yoga studio— large groups and families will love the rambling layout, indoor/outdoor living, fresh forest air, and intimate mountain resort vibe.
A One-Of-A-Kind Rocky Mountain Oasis
The hub of Slippery Rock Ranch— the main lodge— is an elegant combination of contemporary design and rustic log cabin details. With collapsible glass doors and whitewashed log walls, you’ll experience the magic of a perfectly balanced indoor/outdoor living space. There are lots of thoughtful seating options sprinkled throughout the open living and dining area, creating the perfect spaces for socializing and relaxing. Your group will love to gather around the outdoor fireplace to roast marshmallows and reminisce.
The luxe kitchen features stylish slate blue cabinets and a double SubZero refrigerator with custom panel doors. Crisp white marble countertops offer plenty of prep space to brew the morning coffee, pack some snacks for the trails, or prepare an intimate dinner for the whole crew. No detail has been spared in this kitchen— including two dishwashers, built-in wall ovens, a Wolf gas range, and a deep sink with an elegant gooseneck faucet. The spacious, farmhouse-style dining table has seating for ten people. On the upper level is a cozy game room with plenty of seating and a fireplace.
When it’s time to hit the hay, Slippery Rock Ranch has multiple sleep spaces to choose from. Large groups will love that the bedroom cabins and “glamping” tents are perfectly spread out for privacy— yet easily accessible, too. The first bunkhouse features a queen-size bed, an attached full bathroom, and a crackling fireplace that’s ideal for chilly nights. The second bunkhouse also has a queen-size bed set into a rustic wood bedframe, an ensuite bathroom, and a fireplace.
Bunkhouse number three— called Refuge— is a bit larger and is spread out over two levels. On the ground floor, there’s a comfy seating area that has a queen-size pull-out bed and a twin-size pull-out bed. A spiral staircase leads up to the second level and three more beds. Up here, there are two side-by-side twin-size beds and a queen-size bed that’s separated by a privacy wall. The full bathroom in Refuge is uniquely accommodating— it comes equipped with two toilets, two showers, and two sinks. The porch at Refuge is home to a daybed swing with views of the river, a perfect spot for reading or catching an afternoon siesta.
Glamping Tents and a Yoga Studio
Down a manicured path lies the impossibly charming log cabin yoga studio. This 100-year-old structure has large windows, a steeply pitched metal roof, and a quaint front porch. Inside, you’ll find a stationary bike, weights, and a pull-up bar.
Further along the path, you’ll discover two glamping tents— each with a plush, full-size bed, electricity, and a front porch. The glamping full bathroom tent is easily accessible from both sleeping tents. The compound also includes an efficiency apartment overtop the two-car garage. The comfy flat features a kitchenette with a mini-fridge and two-burner stove, a queen-size bed, and a seating area.
Rocky Mountain Rapture
Built to take full advantage of the sparkling Dolores River and the majestic mountain forest, Slippery Rock Ranch provides a feeling of peaceful riverside camping— with all the luxury and elegance of a Rocky Mountain resort. Your whole group will have the complete privacy and solitude you all crave, yet you’ll be steps away from world-class hiking and mountain biking trails and only 30 minutes away from Telluride. Not to mention the top-shelf fly fishing to be had in your private pond and river.
Don’t feel much like leaving camp? We don’t blame you. Pour a glass of wine, light the fireplace, read a book, play some horseshoes, or simply kick your feet up and let the peace of the forest wash over you as you feel the stress of the real world melt away. Slippery Rock Ranch is laid-back Colorado luxury at its very best.
