Overview for Parking in Mountain Village

There are a variety of options when it comes to parking in Mountain Village. If you want to be in close proximity to restaurants, shopping, bars, ski lifts and the trail system, then there are paid garages and lots for you to choose from. If you don't mind a short walk to the Mountain Village Center, there are free options available. The Town of Mountain Village provides FREE transportation within town limits and into the town of Telluride year-round, which allows you convenient access to all summer events in Mountain Village, as well as Mountain Village restaurants, bars, retailers and lodging establishments. If you need to park overnight, there are two options: The Gondola Parking Garage for $25 per night and the Heritage Parking Garage which is a $35 maximum for a 24 hour period. Finally, if you are a Mountain Village Resident or Employee there are permitted parking options. The summer weeks in Mountain Village are filled with outdoor movies, free concerts, educational lectures for kids and adults, music festivals, arts festivals, and much more. Free Parking in Mountain Village

Below are the options for free parking in Mountain Village. We have listed the full details of each parking location that offers free parking options. Some of these locations have additional paid options (example: overnight parking). Please read signs carefully and keep in mind that most of these parking options are for a limited time period.

Gondola Parking Garage

This garage is behind Town Hall Plaza and northwest of the gondola terminal Station Village Parking, it has 460 parking spaces.

  • Free parking hours are from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Overnight parking is $25. Overnight parking hours are from: 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. Paid parking for overnight is valid for 24 hours
  • Pay-and-Displa parking: you need to use a credit or debit card only (no cash)
  • Resident parking is free and available with Resident Parking Permit from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Overnight Permit for the public is $270 per month per stall
  • RVs and trailers require two tickets with a rate of $50 overnight, this is valid for 24 hours; parking on levels 1, 3 and 4 only
  • There is no overnight parking from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. on levels 4, 6 and 7 (open deck levels)

Heritage Parking Garage

The Heritage garage is off Mountain Village Boulevard and across from Hotel Madeline. To enter the garage, turn west.

  • First two hours free, then parking is $2 per hour
  • This parking garage has 116 spaces, most of which are located on the upper level
  • Pay and Display meters: motorists purchase time, take a receipt, and display it on the car’s dashboard.
  • 82 spaces managed by Hotel operator with full valet service
  • Meters are next to the elevator vestibules within the garage
  • 7’6″ clearance

South Village Center Parking and Drop Off

Located off Mountain Village Boulevard and adjacent to the Blue Mesa Condominium Building.

  • 18 parking spaces
  • Free 30-minute parking
  • No overnight parking, 2 a.m. to 6 a.m.

Meadows Run Parking

Located at the end of Adams Ranch Road in the Meadows neighborhood.  In Winter, there is routine snow removal: Closures to the north side of the lot occurs on  Monday, between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. On Thursday, between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m the south side of the lot is closed, unless signs denote the contrary. After April 1 the snow removal policy ends

  • 110 parking spaces in this lot
  • Free parking in the day from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Free overnight parking with a Resident Parking Permit or Big Billie’s Apartments Permit
  • Regional ski school bus parking diagonally along the south side of the lot
  • No RVs, commercial vehicles or trailers

Town Hall Plaza Parking

Located off Mountain Village Boulevard and adjacent to The Market at Mountain Village, there are a total of 60 spaces in this lot, many of which are used for businesses located within Town Hall Plaza.

  • Free one hour parking
  • No overnight parking allowed, 12 a.m. to 7 a.m.
  • Free resident parking available with Resident Parking Permit

North Village Center Parking

Off Mountain Village Boulevard, between Shirana and Westermere buildings.

  • 25 Spaces Total
  • Limit two hours free parking, then parking is $2 per hour
  • No long term parking during the day
  • Unlimited free resident parking available with Resident Parking Permit, 7 a.m. to 2 a.m.
  • No overnight parking from 2 a.m. to 7 a.m.

Short Term Parking

Off Mountain Village Boulevard, across from The Peaks Resort & Spa.

  • 11 Spaces total
  • Free parking for up to 30 minutes
  • No overnight parking allowed from 2 a.m. to 7 a.m.

Rv Parking

You may park your RV during the daytime at the Gondola Parking Garage.

  • Two tickets are required at the rate of $50 overnight.
  • Please contact the community service officer at (970) 729-3455 for information
  • You cannot spend the night in your RV in Mountain Village.

Dial-A-Ride to Mountain Village Center

Town of Mountain Village offers Dial-A-Ride as another form of FREE transportation for residents and visitors to and from most locations within our town limits.

Dial-A-Ride

Dial-A-Ride operates seven days a week from 7:00 am to 12:00 am. To access this public service amenity, follow these steps:

  • Call for pickup and drop-off. Use a courtesy phone located in the gondola terminal located in the Village Center, ask a Guest Service Agent to radio you a shuttle, or dial (970) 728-8888.
  • Have your information, such as your name, the number of riders, your phone number and the pick-up and drop-off location request ready so that Dial-A-Ride may process your call.
  • Be ready to go when Dial-A-Ride arrives as they can only wait for three minutes; your cooperation will be appreciated by the next customer in queue.

Permitted Parking for Mountain Village Residents

The Town of Mountain Village wants to ensure residents continue to have access to a number of convenient parking options within town limits, so Mountain Village residential parking permits are available. Residents may obtain a permit from the Mountain Village Police Department by showing proof of residential status thru acceptable documentation, such as a utility bill or vehicle registration form.

Permitted Parking

Residential Permit Parking Rules:

  • Display your permit in the lower, left-handed side of your vehicle's windshield.
  • If a permit is displayed incorrectly, you will be ticketed and/or your vehicle towed at your expense.
  • Up to two nontransferable permits may be issued per household, but only one vehicle per address may utilize the permitted area at a time.
  • Permits may be issued for multiple vehicles residing at the same address, but only one vehicle per address may utilize the permitted area at a time.
  • Obtaining a permit does not translate into free parking in lots requiring payment, nor does it give residents with permits extended time limits on short-term parking unless otherwise directed.
  • Parking signage denotes permitted spaces.

Permitted Parking Lots in Mountain Village

  • Meadows Run Parking - Free daytime and overnight parking with a resident parking permit. No RV's, Commercial Vehicles or Trailers.
  • Gondola Parking Garage - In addition to the regular free parking there are six stalls assigned to Resident Parking Permit holders; these can be found on the top level of the garage in the enclosed area adjacent to the elevator
  • Town Hall Plaza Parking - Unlimited daytime parking from 7:00 a.m. - 2:00 a.m. along the rock wall only
  • North Village Center Parking - Free and Unlimited parking from 7:00 a.m. - 2:00 a.m.
  • Grocery Parking Lot - A number of spaces on the southwest corner of the lot are available for permitted vehicles with a limit of 4 hours. No overnight parking is allowed due to routine maintenance.
  • Gondola Parking Lot - Level 7 parking spaces are reserved for permitted vehicles with unlimited daytime use. No overnight parking is allowed on this level.

Take note of the No Parking rules below:

  • Do NOT park on Mountain Village streets if you are attending an event. Unless the Police or a Guest Service Agent directs you to park in a designated location on the street, please do not park on Mountain Village streets. Unauthorized parked vehicles will be ticketed by Mountain Village Code Enforcement officers.
  • Do NOT park in the South Village Center Parking Lot (next to Blue Mesa Building) if you are attending an event. Free parking is available, but ONLY with a 30 minutes limit and no overnight parking is allowed. Unauthorized parked vehicles will be ticketed by Mountain Village Code Enforcement officers.
  • Do NOT park in the Grocery Parking Lot if you are attending an event, unless you have a Permit. Free parking is available, but ONLY with a 1 hour limit and no overnight parking is allowed due to routine maintenance. Unauthorized parked vehicles will be ticketed by Mountain Village Code Enforcement officers.

Mountain Village is a scenic ride away from Telluride and offers riders a front row seat with Mother Nature at 10,500 ft.
