Castlewood – a magical, unforgettable Telluride private rental home

Castlewood bedroom

It has been quite a while since I featured one of our private rental homes on the blog, so this week I am going to write about the most unique slope side home we have in our Telluride Rentals portfolio – the 17,300 square foot, eight bedroom estate, Castlewood.

A few years ago, Castlewood looked a lot like many other homes in Mountain Village. That was until it was purchased by it’s current owners. The new homeowners transformed this sprawling private home into something very unique in the Telluride market. Castlewood is packed with fabrics and furniture from a time gone by. There is nothing in this house that lets down the tuen-of-the-century rustic theme. If it weren’t for the sheer magnitude of the home, stepping into Castlewood you could be forgiven for thinking it was the year 1911, not 2011. The home is adorned in historic furniture and open fireplaces. Narrow hallways lead you to different parts of the home including a rustic guest house, carriage house and a grotto (complete with beer taps) carved into stone.

What is impressive about Castlewood is the way in which modern comforts, conveniences and luxuries are ever so subtlely blended in with the historic features, so as not to ruin the look and feel of the home. All of the bedrooms have flat screen TV’s, which are masked behind the doors of closets. There is a huge, state-of-the-art movie theater, which you wouldn’t guess was a movie theater at first glance.

Castlewood is also a popular wedding venue. Aside from the fact that the home can sleep up to 35 guests, there are multiple entertaining areas, both inside and out. The house manager is also a seasoned wedding planner. Your wedding day at Castlewood will leave you and your guests reminiscing for years to come.
